As its meteoric rise continued, the club strayed further from its roots, with once-humble Mykonos players increasingly living the Hellenic high life: amphorae service, betting their wages on dice games, and lining their homes with increasingly ornate sports carriages. An incensed Hercules soon stormed out of the club, leaving the club to serve as a retirement home for players with more of a taste for partying than making the most of their innate talent.
